The wireless industry is quickly becoming a group of haves and have nots as consolidation has already hit the industry. The soon to be Big 5 providers serve 85% of the US industry's subscriber base.
Here's the way it breaks down:
Cingular = 50 million
Verizon = 43 million
Sprint and Nextel = 40 million
T-Mobile = 17 million
Alltel = 10 million
Total US subscribers = 180 million
