Ringtones are the Mohawks of the 2000's

People have always tried to stand out from the crowd and maybe ringtones are today's way to do it. We all know how important it is to personalize your cell phone with a cool ringtone.

According to a report by Pittsburgh television station KDKA, ringtones are a $12 billion industry with $600 million in US sales alone last year.

Scott Lewis, of Verizon ringtones, said: "I think (ringtones) are for just about everybody who wants to have some fun with their phone." The Verizon ringtones employee went on to say: "People have always wanted to stand out from crazy dress to a crazy haircut. Maybe the ringtone is the mohawk of the 2000's."
