Ringtones Continue to be Most Popular

Picture messaging is a growing trend, but ringtones continue to be the king, according to a Mobile Media Monitor study by Harris Interactive.
A fourth quarter, 2005 study showed that multimedia messaging (MMS) use doubled in the USA with 19% of the total mobile phone market using MMS. 22% of men have used MMS and 15% of women. 15% of Americans have gone on teh mobile web.
Ringtone sites scored highest among wireless customers with a whopping 60% of the US mobile internet users accessing ringtones. Ringtones were followed by weather (51%), news (42%), and games (42%).
The Mobile Media Monitor was based on more than 1089 online surveys in fourth quarter, 2005.
